Visiting Lake City

From The High Country is based in the town of Lake City, Colorado. Lake City is the county seat for Hinsdale County, and is a great staging point for a trip on the Alpine Loop or the Silver Thread scenic byway, or an ascent of one of the five nearby fourteeners (mountains over 14,000 ft high).

Surrounded by mountains, rivers and lakes (and public lands), Lake City is a great place for hiking, fishing and a wide range of other outdoor activities. For those of you who like to take it easy, there are galleries, restaurants and other opportunities to relax.
